Nothing is as scary as becoming single again. However, that does not mean the end of life. Becoming a single parent does not put an end to your joy. You can get up and live happily again.
After becoming single, you should quickly do away with its attendant bitter experience. Get your groove again and rise higher than sadness, anger, and hatred. It is true that the society is judgmental about single parents, live your life without regards to any spiteful comments about you.
As a man, if you are planning a marriage with a single parent, it is not a bad idea. In fact, you have made an excellent decision. Meanwhile, before proceeding with the marriage with a single parent, you should take some steps.
1. Be Prepared
You need to prepare yourself psychologically for the giant step you are about to take. There may be some challenges; in that, the woman can compare you with her ex, which could anger you. So, deal with your emotions.
2. Understand Her
This is a prerequisite step before proposing marriage to her. It is believed that you have both taken your time to study and understand each other. Meanwhile, you need to take it further by knowing what angers her, her complaints about her ex, her expectations. Remember not to compete with her children concerning attention and care.
3. Bond with Her Children
One of the ways to make her and her children feel secure around you is to bond with the children. In as much as you are becoming the stepfather, it is appropriate to get used to the children, be nice to them, take them in as your children, do not feel threatened by their presence. Be natural and bond with them. You never can tell, they may give you some useful information about their mom.
Meanwhile, marriage with a single parent gives you several benefits. Below are few of them:
1. She will not mess with you. She already has several things on her mind; therefore, she will communicate clearly to you what she wants and needs you to do.
2. Her children are paramount to her. She is not necessarily looking for a father for her children. And that takes a lot of burden off her shoulders.
3. She is very mature. Expect little or no bickering, anxiety, or pressure from her. She already got enough of that raising her children. She just needs someone to have fun with and enjoy together
